Databricks acquires Electric to add per-agent Postgres databases

Databricks is acquiring Electric, the company behind PGlite and the Electric sync engine, to support agentic applications that create and branch databases more frequently. Electric’s open-source projects will remain open source, but its hosted Electric Cloud service is being wound down and customers will need to self-host or switch providers.
