Red Hat bench tests AI guardrails and finds a small classifier nearly matches a 35B model

Red Hat’s AI Safety team compared classifier, LLM-judge, and decision-model approaches for guardrails using the same NeMo Guardrails benchmarks. A roughly 200M-parameter DeBERTa classifier nearly matched Qwen3.6-35B on prompt injection with much lower latency, while Jev and other decision models performed better on content safety.
