Study finds giant tropical trees can pump water to their tops
New research led by the University of Exeter and Cardiff University finds that the tallest Dipterocarp trees compensate for the physical challenges of height when transporting water. Measurements across trees in Malaysian Borneo showed no height-related loss in drought resilience or growth during a severe 2023–2024 El Niño drought.
