Assess

Platforms

A large astronomical imaging survey that created a deep 2D map of the sky.

Why it's here

Placed in Assess: 1 article(s) of evidence from 1 source(s), led by research-stage coverage, with 0 in the last 30 days. Confidence 24%. Low accumulated evidence, so it defaults conservatively pending more signal.

Scientists Release the Largest 2D Map of the Universe

The DESI Legacy Imaging Surveys team has released a 5.6-trillion-pixel 2D color map of the universe, built from more than 263,000 telescope exposures and covering about 75% of the sky. The publicly available dataset helps astronomers study galaxies, rare phenomena, dark matter, and dark energy, and supports the DESI project’s 3D mapping efforts.
